Antarctic Wildlife Photo Gallery

Cruise ships traversing the Antartic water passages often visit Deception Island in the South Shetland Island chain. The island was formed by a volcanic crater, and when part of the crater collapsed, seawater rushed in the caldera and created one of the largest natural harbors in the world. Enjoy this sampling of some of the wildlife found on Deception Island and elsewhere in the Antarctic.

Galapagos Photo Gallery

Karumbé Project

Volunteer for two weeks or more with the Karumbé Project which monitors two foraging and developmental areas of juvenile green turtles (Chelonia mydas) in Uruguay. You will carry out research and conservation activities, getting quite in touch with the fishermen community where the field stations are settled. You will be working shoulder to shoulder with two researchers who coordinate the fieldwork, and getting involved in all tasks included in the project work.

The Whales of Patagonia, Argentina

Pink Dolphins

"Pink dolphins inhabit the Amazon River, but they can also be found in the Orinoco basins. While they are mostly pink, these dolphins have various colored skins, which can be light gray, pink, or brown. Pink dolphins have been listed by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) as a 'vulnerable species-threatened' and recently was moved to 'endangered species-threatened.'"
