The island was formed by a volcanic crater, and when part of the crater collapsed, seawater rushed in the caldera and created one of the largest natural harbors in the world. Karumbé Project
Volunteer for two weeks or more with the Karumbé Project which monitors two foraging and developmental areas of juvenile green turtles (Chelonia mydas) in Uruguay. You will carry out research and conservation activities, getting quite in touch with the fishermen community where the field stations are settled. You will be working shoulder to shoulder with two researchers who coordinate the fieldwork, and getting involved in all tasks included in the project work.
