From the article: Cartagena, Colombia
Cartagena's must-see places and things to do include the Ciudad Amarullada, the walled city, Convento de la Popa, Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas, Bocagrande, nightlife, museums, and side trips to Santa Marta, Ciudad Perdida and Parque Nacional Tayrona. What do you like best about the city? What would you recommend to someone who hasn't yet visited the city?

Completely Restored

Cartagena is a great example of restored colonial architecture. The city has done a excellent job at preserving it old Spanish town feel while integrating thriving nightlife. I am always impressed when I go to Cartagena. I live and work in the colonial district of Casco Viejo in Panama City, Panama. Like Cartagena, Casco Viejo is undergoing massive renovations to bring back to life it's once historic district. However, Cartagena is years ahead of Casco Viejo in terms of development. Although we hope to be there soon, I am still planning on taking notes from Cartagena and see how we can incorporate them into Casco Viejo. ~ Evan http://www.loscuatrotulipanes.com/

Fabulous Time in Cartagena Aug 2009

I went to Cartagena for a wedding in the old walled city, spent 6 days and nights getting to know the local people, exploring the old city on foot or in small taxis. the people were very loving, friendly, kind and I felt safe. The happy couple had s spectactular wedding and reception later in a centuries old Hacienda...Restaurants, bars, shops, museums, old architecture, people out walking the old city...it was all really great. The Cartagenians are warm and friendly..

vacation in cartagena

Well I have a problem defining what was what I like the most in Cartagena. Its easy to say what I didnt like, because it was just that there were so many vendors in the beach, that sometimes you could not get any rest of them. But I loved the city, specially the old city, so much history is allucinating. The night life WOW, and the place I stayed in was really special and would like to share with you if your open to go visit one of THE most beautiful places in south america: http://www.casablancabyb.com/ its a boutique, for relaxing times, comfort and romantic evenings!! cartagena rocks!

Vacation in Cartagena

I was in Cartagena in Dec. Besides the beach area, the old city is terrific with many vendors on the streets selling jewelry, food, flowers, and candy. People were nice and helpful to us. There are a number of very good restaurants as well. A trip by boat to one of the islands off shore and a day spent on the island where there is a small town was awesome. Even the trip back to the mainland in rough waters was great as we passed by some land with interesting scenery. Walk around Catagena's beach area and you will see some very nice streets. Also, you will not want to miss the Juan Valdez cafe near the beach where everyone waits on long lines to drink heavenly coffee and then sit outside chatting.
